Alliance OPTs
Provided in the archive is a replacement OPT for the x-wing (Xwing.opt) and a-wing (Awing.opt) in Balance of Power (BoP), LucasArts' expansion package for Xwing vs. Tie Fighter.

The Xwing.opt file changes the appearance of x-wings in the following manner:

  • red markings--Official Red Squadron markings, but of a new design.
  • gold markings--replaced with Official Rogue Squadron markings.
  • blue markings--replaced with Official Wolfshead Squadron markings.
  • green markings--Official Green Squadron markings, but of a new design.
The Awing.opt file changes the appearance of a-wings in the following manner:
  • red markings--replaced with Official Blue Squadron markings.
  • gold markings--replaced with Official Corsair Squadron markings.
  • blue markings--replaced with Official Wolfshead Squadron markings.
  • green markings--replaced with official Gray Squadron markings.
Installation
The following steps are provided to help you install xwing.opt file correctly.
1. Creat a backup of the stock xwing.opt file
  • Locate your current xwing.opt file. This should be in your ivfiles directory in your XvT folder (for most of us that would be c:\program files\lucasarts\xwingtie\ivfiles).
  • Right-click on this file and select rename. Type in "xwing.bak" (without the quotes) and press enter.
2. Open xvt_opt.zip.
3. Select the file called "xwing.opt" and click extract. Extract the file to the ivfiles directory in which you made the backup (again, for most people that should be c:\program files\lucasarts\xwingtie\ivfiles directory).
4. Launch XvT and enjoy.

The following steps are provided to help you install awing.opt file correctly.
1. Creat a backup of the stock awing.opt file

  • Locate your current awing.opt file. This should be in your ivfiles directory in your XvT folder (for most of us that would be c:\program files\lucasarts\xwingtie\ivfiles).
  • Right-click on this file and select rename. Type in "awing.bak" (without the quotes) and press enter.
2. Open xvt_opt.zip.
3. Select the file called "awing.opt" and click extract. Extract the file to the ivfiles directory in which you made the backup (again, for most people that should be c:\program files\lucasarts\xwingtie\ivfiles directory).
4. Launch XvT and enjoy.

No Ewoks were harmed in the redesign of this texture. Unfortunately. We would have liked to--you know, help rid the galaxy of disease-spreading vermin and all. But if you happen to find a small lump of fur that looks suspiciously like Ewok fur, take our word it is not Ewok fur. It's Wookie fur. We swear. They shed a lot. Honestly.
